Most people only dream of landing a job in the music industry – with a music business apprenticeship, you could live the dream and work for a record label or management company while picking up a qualification along the way. With perks like free CDs, gigs and maybe rubbing elbows with famous bands, a music business apprenticeship is perfect for any diehard music fan.

What does a music apprenticeship involve?

The music industry may be rock and roll but it still runs like any other business – it employs all sorts of people who work together to help their label or company turn a profit. As a music business apprentice, you could be working for a record label or artist management company and pitching in wherever you're needed in the office: you could be listening to demos, answering enquires from prospective artists, manning the phones or helping to promote a new artist.

Music companies range from huge corporations, like Columbia, to independent labels that may only employ a handful of people. Either way, you'll be surrounded by people who are as passionate about music as you are, and you'll be learning all about the industry from the inside.
Who's it for?

This apprenticeship is for people who love music – and there are a lot of them out there. The music business is a competitive industry and so you'll need to be willing to work hard and show your passion in order to outshine other candidates.

The music business apprenticeship is a pathway within the Creative Apprenticeship, which offers lots of opportunities in theatre, live events and music for all you artistic-types out there.

What's in it for me?

For starters, you get to work in one of the coolest industries on the planet. After the apprenticeship, you'll be rewarded with a Level 2 nationally recognised qualification in music business, plus key skills and a technical certificate.

Once qualified, you could be earning a starting salary between £12,000 and £14,000. There are lots of perks for music lovers too, from free music and gigs to meeting famous bands and artists. Work hard and who knows, you might be the one to discover the next Oasis.
