Ron Dennis

Ron Dennis was born in Woking, Surrey and began his career doing an apprenticeship in the automotive industry before becoming a motor racing mechanic in 1966 at age 18 with the Cooper Racing Car Company. He moved to join the Brabham Racing team in 1968 and was duly appointed to the position of Chief Mechanic to Sir Jack Brabham.

Three years later, he launched his own company, Rondel Racing, and during the 1970s he managed several highly successful teams, focusing on the F2 racing championship. By 1980, Ron’s company Project Four merged with Team McLaren Limited to form McLaren International. From then on, Ron would being to taste the success McLaren has received to this day.

McLaren International Formula One racing team has won the Constructors’ World Championship 8 times and the Driver’s World Championship 11 times, boasting such drivers as Mika Hakkinen and Lewis Hamilton.

Ron Dennis is Chairman and CEO of the TAG McLaren Group, comprising of: McLaren Cars, TAG McLaren Marketing, TAG Electronic Systems, McLaren Composites and Absolute Taste, as well as McLaren International – the Formula One team.

Ron is reportedly worth £110 million, appearing 33rd on the City & Guilds vocational rich list.
