University of Essex Online courses are administered by Kaplan Open Learning (KOL), an experienced online learning provider. The University and Kaplan have developed a partnership over the last five years to offer high quality online courses. Study is combined with workplace learning, and flexible online support allowing students to study anywhere – at work, home or on the go.

Unlike a traditional campus-based university environment, online learning courses utilise a virtual learning environment. The online platform enables both students and tutors to actively take part in real-time conversations, listen to and view recorded lectures and take part in live question and answer sessions.

Upon successful completion of a degree course, students receive a degree validated by the University of Essex and are invited to attend a graduation ceremony at the University of Essex, Colchester Campus.
