Here’s what some of you have already been asking…
I’m finishing lower sixth exams now and not sure whether I will pass them. What are my options? Claire, Notts.
It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get your anticipated grades, at the end of the day you can re-take your AS Levels, no problem. Many sixth-forms actually let you carry on to A2 as normal but with the extra workload of re-taking your AS’s. If this is not the case then you can re-take the first year before then continuing your A-Levels. It is always advisable to try your best and try and complete your full A-Levels as these may help you get further in your chosen career path. Should you want to find a job rather than complete your A-Levels, there are lot’s of training schemes designed for GCSE level students as well as many apprenticeships and BTECs.
Hi I am in my first year of university but don’t like it at all (apart from the nights) and not doing so good on my course. I am doing banking and finance by the way and want to probably go into accountancy after I finish but don’t want to carry on at university. I know there is the AAT but what how do I go about it?
Many Accounting firms offer their staff the chance to train to get the AAT qualification. Once you attain AAT status and complete the training you are then known as an Accounting Technician. To become a full member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) you need to complete a full years work experience after you gain the qualification and also a reference. You then have the option of further training to become a fully qualified Accountant.
There are plenty of employers looking for prospective AAT students and check back on NotGoingToUni for career updates as we will soon be listing AAT opportunities nationwide. In the meantime be sure to check out the AAT website.
What is the average starting salary for ILEX student?
ILEX (Institue of Legal Executives) is the legal training body for Legal Executives and the ideal solution for people wishing to get stuck into the legal profession without going to uni. Salaries differ up and down the country, but the average starting salary for a school leaver on the ILEX scheme is anywhere from £12-15,000. The salaries tend to progress according to your studies for the ILEX scheme. To see the average salaries in your local area, visit this link (pdf document).
