This course is designed to encourage you

to develop the personal skills and qualities needed for work

and learning and to achieve your full potential. This is a fun and

practical hands-on course designed to provide you with the

skills you need to enter employment or progress on to the next

level of study. This course is made up of eight units of study:

• Understanding Children’s Development

• Keeping Children Safe

• Communication with Children and Adults

• Preparing and Maintaining Environments for Childcare

• Professional Development, Roles and Responsibilities

• Supporting Children’s Play and Learning

• The Development and Care of Babies and Children Under 3

• Providing Support for Children with Disabilities

You will also have the opportunity to achieve a qualification

in Functional Mathematics or English as well as specialist

awards in Food Hygiene, First Aid and Paediatric Life Support.

These are integrated into your studies to give you the option to

achieve additional qualifications to boost your opportunities for

employment and further study.

To achieve the Diploma you will need to undertake 300 hours of

work experience in a range of childcare and Education settings

through a combination of block and on-going weekly work

experience. You will have the full support of our specialist work

placement team who are both highly experienced childcare

practitioners and work placement supervisors.

On successful completion of the Diploma you will achieve

Licence to practice and achieve Assistant Practitioner status
