Age Requirements: 16 and Up


A one year vocational care course at Level 2. This full time course will help you to develop knowledge, skills and personal qualities needed to work in a care setting. You may be able to progress onto further courses. You will have support from a personal tutor and learning support if necessary. Work placement experience is a vital part of the course and classroom work will be closely linked to practical experience.



Content
You will be learning to understand human growth and development through the life stages, exploring cultural diversity, developing effective communication skills and exploring the impact of diet on people's health.


This qualification consists of
Four core units:
- Communication in Health & Social Care
- Individual Rights Within the Health & Social Care Sectors
- Individual Needs Within the Health & Social Care Sectors
- Maintaining Health and Security


Plus

Four specialist units:
- The Impact of Diet on Health
- Creative Activities
- Work Placement in Health & Social Care Settings
- Human Lifespan Development


Features/Benefits
This course involves two work placements in different settings, depending on interest and location of students. Many assignment tasks are firmly based on this experience.


There is excellent tutorial support and access to additional support according to your individual requirements.

We are constantly developing new resources to encourage active ways of learning.


Entry Requirements
Minimum 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including English and Maths
OR
Other Level 1 qualifications, such as BTEC Introductory Diploma with a Merit profile, and an ability to operate at Level 1 in English and Maths
OR
Mature students with relevant work and/or life experience, showing potential to cope with advanced level work.
AND
A satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau check at enhanced level is required.


Progression Opportunities
Successful students could progress onto a variety of courses, for instance the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, the CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education, or go directly into employment in the care sector.
