The course provides a challenging and interesting introduction to the discipline of chemistry at an advanced level. This course is suited to students who wish to pursue a career in medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, environmental areas and the chemical industries of today. It also develops the skills of analysis and enquiry, which are valuable for a wide range of careers. Content A2 Chemistry covers:Kinetics, Equilibria and Organic Chemistry;Acids and Bases, Carbonyl Group, Aromatics, Amines, Amino Acids, Polymers, Organic Synthesis and Analysis. Energetics, Redox and Inorganic Chemistry; Periodicity of Period 3 Elements, Thermodynamics, Transition Metals, Redox Equiliria.Investigative and Practical Skills;Assessed Coursework on making observations and measurements, analysing and evaluating results.
