The programme will develop you as a confident, knowledgeable and effective practitioner to work with children. You will study core and pathway (option) modules, reflecting on your practice and enhancing this by academic study.Your work setting will be used for work-based projects, activities and research, so everything will be relevant to your everyday work. You will learn in a number of different ways including online resources, undertaking work based learning activities and research.
You will study a total of 16 modules, 2 of which are core and the remaining optional modules are selected from the Early Years or Teaching Assistant pathway.The 2 Core modules are:Work-based reflective practice 1:Starting to Study; Integrated Services; Equality and DiversityWork-based reflective practice 2:Research Methods and Practice; Children's, Young People's and Family rights; Understanding Behaviour There are a variety of assessment methods; work-based reflection, presentations, and essay writing. There is no examination.

The course ensures you are confident, knowledgeable and effective in your work with children. You will learn in a number of different ways, with your work setting used for work-based projects, activities and research. Everything you learn will be relevant to your everyday working life. You will also have the support of a work-based mentor, and access to a wide range of resources and study sites due to the college's partnership with the University of Derby, Leicestershire County Council Early Years Partnership.
Entry Requirements
Minimum five GCSEs at grade C or above, one of which must be English AND A Level 3 NQF Qualification Progression Opportunities On successful completion you may be able to progress to the BA Education Studies and Early Years Professional Status Preparation Days that are available to study with Derby University on site at Loughborough College.
