This Apprenticeship aims to provide a basis for the development of a range of transferable skills and to address skills gaps in the Libraries, Archives, Records and Information Management Sector. It aims to widen entry routes into and progression routes through the sector and support a more diverse workforce which reflects the communities served by the sector.
Content
An Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) is made up of a minimum of 60 credits comprising:45 - EDI Level 2 Certificate in Libraries, Archives and Information Services (QCF)15 - Functional skills, key skills (or equivalents) in English, Mathematics and ICTKnowledge of Employee Rights and Responsibilities
Features/Benefits
Successful completers will have the knowledge and skills that are applicable to their role, including the underlying skills to be able operate as an effective employee in the Library, Archives, Records and Information Management Services Sector.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal requirements or pre-determined entry routes for the Advanced Apprenticeship but it would be advantageous for entrants to have successfully completed any of the following:GCSE's in English and mathematics, or equivalent literacy and numeracy awards;Foundation learning programmes of study;Any relevant previous work or training related to libraries, archives, records and information management services
Progression Opportunities Higher Level Courses and/or Higher Education Opportunities e.g. Professional degrees and postgraduate qualifications in libraries, archives, records and information management services, professional qualifications and awards of professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), Museums Association, Records Management Society (RMS) and the British Computer Society (BCS).The above are suggested but by no means a prescribed list.
