The course is a designed to give you an introduction to a wide range of knowledge and skills within the hospitality, leisure and tourism sector. The course is aimed at school leavers, those who want to get back into education and ESOL students who are seeking a broad practical qualification taught in an adult environment. Not only are the Nationals in Leisure and Tourism exciting, refreshing and informative, they also allow you the opportunity to apply your skills. Content - Working as a team in leisure & tourism- Investigating leisure & tourism provision- Skills for working in leisure & tourism- Investigating options for work in leisure & tourism- Communication skills in leisure & tourism- UK visitor destinations National Certificate- Problem solving in leisure & tourism- UK visitor attraction- Hospitality in leisure & tourism- Promotion in leisure & tourism- Healthy lifestylesFunctional Skills in English and Maths will also be taught and are assessed by exam, all other units are assessed by portfolio work or observations. Features/Benefits This course is unique in its delivery in that each semester you will complete six units and you will have completed a qualification by January. By June you will have completed the full certificate.You will also have the opportunity to go on a residential and various day trips, as well as the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in customer care and real event planning.You will have the chance to help at open days, charity events, awareness campaigns, hospitality events, as well as restaurant and travel agency work. Entry Requirements -Minimum of 2 GCSE's at grade G or above.-Evidence of a commitment to learn at interview Progression Opportunities Successful students may progress straight into employment or onto a variety of Level 2 courses such as:- Level 2 First Diploma in Travel and Tourism- Level 2 Professional Chef DiplomaOR- Level 2 Qualification in other departments (related subjects (subject to the course requirements).
