WAVA's Elephant Protection Project in Thailand is your chance to help end the cruel mistreatment of elephants for the benefit of tourists in Thailand.
Local mahouts in Thailand (elephant handlers) often force elephants to give rides to tourists or rent them to circus acts. To make sure the elephant is docile enough to take part in these inappropriate money-making projects the mahouts often subject the elephant to very cruel "training" methods such as starvation, beatings and sleep deprivation.
This project makes a genuine difference by offering the mahouts a revenue stream where elephants are treated with compassion and dignity, as well as offering them more stability than their previous tourist work with the elephants allowed.
To make a positive impact on the lives of elephants and poor mahouts from Thailand, click the apply now button.
