I'm one of those rare people who after three years can honestly say that each morning as I wake up I really look forward to going to work. Wow how many people can say that about their job?  But that's what automotive apprentice, Michael Chryssos says about the apprenticeship which he took with VT Group at a Volkswagen retailer. If you're someone who's interested in technology, engineering and all things automotive, then an apprenticeship can turn a hobby into a superb career.  There are a range of different routes you can take.  Perhaps you see yourself getting an engine to peak performance, using the latest computer technology. Or maybe the exterior and styling is more your thing; in that case a Body and Paint apprenticeship could be for you. You might be more interested in a sales role and want to get all that technical know-how that can turn you into a successful Parts Consultant. Whatever direction you want to go in, VT Group will have a learning programme to suit you.

How It Works

Once we've worked with you to identify the best course for you we'll place you with an employer where you will earn a wage as you work towards your qualification.  You'll be gaining valuable work experience as you train and your career will be well under way by the time you complete your learning programme. VT Group works with many of the best names in the automotive business including Volkswagen Group, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Jaguar Land Rover, Subaru, Chrysler, Bentley and BMW. You'll have an experienced vocational learning adviser assigned to work with you and support you throughout your apprenticeship and he or she will visit you regularly at work to assess your progress and give you extra training on a one-to-one basis. You'll also spend time out at one of VT's automotive academies, working with the very latest technology to gain the up to the minute skills that today's automotive business demands.

Racing is something that has interested me for a long time, he says. I used to enjoy drag racing as a spectator, but following my apprenticeship I've started to become a regular participant. It's a really exciting sport. It probably goes to show how blurred the line is between my job and my spare time.
