BPP Takes training into the workplace with launch of four NEW business apprenticeships
2012-02-06 10:25:00

BPP, the private training provider, has today introduced a major new vocational programme with the launch of four new Apprenticeships as part of its ongoing focus on career based qualifications with close links to employers.

The Apprenticeships have been selected to cover key areas of business which are growing in importance, yet which may be staffed by employees who have excellent skills and knowledge gained from on the job experience; but not by any accredited qualifications or university degrees.

The 4 new Apprenticeships, each of which lead to a recognised vocational award are:

·         Payroll

·         Team Leading and Management

·         Business and Administration

·         Customer Services

The Apprenticeships, which are primarily targeted at school leavers, will also be available to those already into their working lives, and are part of the government initiative in conjunction with the Skills Funding Agency. Typically, they are aimed at non graduates who are in permanent employment, and involve 1-2 hours online training and tasks per week, at the workplace, with visits from work based assessors every 6-12 weeks.

Clare Buck, Head of Vocational and Technical Training at BPP said:

“We have a number of employers whom we are already working with, ranging from accountancy firms, sports associations, from small companies, to SMEs.  From the sheer demand that we have had, it is obvious that there is a real need for this type of workbased training – the employer benefits from an upskilled and motivated workforce, and the employee can earn and learn”.

Carl Lygo, CEO BPP said:

“With our links to employers in the professions like finance and accountancy, as well as our experience in teaching business and law, this has been a natural step for us as part of our overall strategy.  We have been able to draw on both the practical and taught aspect of this type of qualification and will only be focussing on professional apprenticeships where we believe that there is a huge gap to be filled.”

BPP currently runs an existing Apprenticeship Scheme in Accounting and is planning to expand its programmes later in 2012 to include Marketing, Financial Services and Law.

It is one of the key partners in the Professional Services Apprenticeships programme launched by PWC and the Financial Skills Partnership as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
