QA Apprentice David Robertson named Microsoft Apprentice of the Year

2012-07-06 11:52:27

QA Apprentices David Robertson, Cheyenne Brown and Charlie Gilbert were all honoured at the inaugral Microsoft Apprentice of the Year awards at the House of Commons this week.

David, 19 from Worthing, was chosen above hundreds of Microsoft apprentices as the winner of the Microsoft Apprentice of the Year, with Chayenne and Charlie named as runners-up.

These prestigious national awards were set up by Microsoft to recognise the outstanding efforts and achievements of apprentices in developing their workplace skills and experience.

The event was hosted by Robert Halfon MP and the awards were given out by Rt Hon Chris Grayling, Minister of State for Employment, Department for Work and Pensions and Scott Dodds, Acting General Manager of Microsoft UK.

Two QA Apprenticeships employers, Perspicuity and Maginus Software were also given Honourable Mentions in the Microsoft Apprentice Employer of the Year award.

QA Apprenticeships' Director Ben Pike said: "Congratulations to David on a great achievement and for showing the maturity and enthusiasm to make such a success of his apprenticeship. He is a fantastic example to all our apprentices and young people across the UK. Recognition should also go to his employer, Cloud9 Insight, his tutor, Jeff Adams and his assessor David Christie who have provided David with fantastic support, guidance and tuition throughout his apprenticeship."

Two more QA Apprentices were affored honourable mentions for the award: Sean Brunton (also named as outstanding QA Apprentice for East of Scotland at February's graduation) and Ben Freeman, an outstanding developer apprentice, working with Trinity Expert Systems.

The awards recognise the ongoing success of the programmes QA are delivering across the UK and build on the Apprenticeship Programme of the Year 2012 award we celebrated in February.
