RM logo 300dpi If you're looking for a different kind of opportunity away from a routine 9 to 5 desk job, and want to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst earning a competitive salary, the Royal Mail Apprenticeship Scheme may be the turbo boost you've been looking for. Our Apprenticeship Scheme Designed with the Learning Skills Council specifically to provide jobs for school leavers (16-18) with little or no current work experience, our scheme lasts for nine months and combines practical and theoretical learning with development. Our Opportunities Apprentice Postmen and Postwomen: Based in our busy factory-style Delivery Offices, you'll arrange the mail so you can deliver it later on. Delivering mail on foot and bike you'll travel six to eight miles a day, carrying around eight heavy mailbags (weighing up to 10kg). Hours of work will be over 5 days per week Monday to Saturday, and will vary depending on location. Mail Sorters: Based in a loud and busy factory environment, you'll need to be able to stand for long periods of time while you sort mail by machine and by hand. You'll also be lifting and carrying mailbags and boxes that can weigh up to 10kg, as well as pushing containers weighing 250kg. Hours of work will be over 5 days per week Monday to Friday, and will vary depending on location. Who we're looking for If you're a school leaver, aged 16 to 18, with little or no current work experience, have good interpersonal, communication skills, are able to work independently, on your own initiative and as part of a team, we'd like to hear from you.
