Online Campaign to Kick Bullying into Touch just launched
2010-03-01 14:49:45
Kick Bullying into Touch is one of the largest anti-bullying campaigns in the UK. Organised by the NSPCC ChildLine and Guinness Premiership Rugby, participants of the campaign simply give something up for 30 days between now and 29th of May, the Guinness Rugby Final, to raise awareness for ChildLine and against bullying. The campaign just launched on the online charity platform LeapAnywhere.com.
Spearheaded by England rugby players Paul Sackey, who is giving up desserts, and Joe Simpson, who is giving up chocolate, everyone can join the campaign for free, though donations can be made to the NSPCC. This campaign is all about having some fun (and going through a bit of pain!) to spread the word about NSPCC ChildLine, 0800 1111. Some of the first participants have chosen to give up takeaways from the local chip shop, being late, Cocoa Pops, sweets, wheat, even twitter.

The facts that matter:
- Almost half of all children and young people (44%)Â say that they've been bullied at school (Ofsted research).
- Last year 18% of all children counselled by ChildLine, the free helpline on 0800 1111 provided by the NSPCC were counselled about bullying.
- There are thousands of bullying cases which go un-noticed and un-reported every year.
- The NSPCC is a leading children's charity that administers ChildLine, a phone number (0800 1111), for young people to call to get free, confidential counselling on bullying, depression, anything.
