What Will I do? Using state of the art equipment and studio technology, you will further develop your music skills and knowledge already acquired in music performance practice and music technology. You will also explore career opportunities within the music industry through field trips and industry guest speaker. Alongside your main course of study you will also take qualifications in Work Skills in year 1 and Employment skill in year 2. These will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to self-manage your very own music enterprise activity.

What qualifications will I get? Level 2 BTEC Certificate, Extended Certificate or Diploma in Music.

How will I be assessed? A variety of assessment methods will be used but most work is coursework based. You will be set a range of projects to complete that meet with the BTEC criteria. You will be marked at the end of each project and you will be allocated a grade at the end of the year. Pass/merit/distinction.

What else do I need to know? n/a

What can I do after this course? If you are able to move up to the next level you can also study music at level 3. You can also think about the world of work and move onto paid employment in the music industry or seek out alternatives to paid employment.

What modules are covered? Core Units - you must study: Working in the Music Industry Professional Development in the Music Industry Planning and Creating a Music Product Self-assessment Career progression And a range of optional units that cover all the creative activities you undertake.

What is the entry process? Application and interview or speak to your tutor.

What are the entry requirements? Level 1 qualification in Maths and English. You should have a keen interest in aspects of the music industry and musical performance.
