Course Outline: Before starting the full diploma all learners will complete a 5 week basic skills awared (fixtures and fittings). This course is aimed at learners wanting to either develop their existing plastering skills or for those seeking a recognised qualification in the construction industry. It could also be used for those who are looking for a complete change in career or adding another skill to their current CV.
Course Content: The course includes practical and knowledge assignments covering 12 compulsory units which include:Safe working practices in constructionKnowledge of and use of information, quantities and communication with othersKnowledge of and use of building methods and construction technologyPrepare background surfaces and plaster materialsApply plaster materials to internal backgrounds Produce components from mouldsIn addition students will be expected to do Functional Skills in English and Maths. Learners who already hold GCSE qualifications at C and above in English Language and Maths are exempt for studying Functional Skills.
Teaching Arrangements: Continuous assessment of each unit. Students present evidence of competence via practical assessments and production of a personal portfolio of evidence.

Progression: Career Opportunities Potential careers include: Trainee Plasterer. Further Study Level 2 Diploma in Plastering.
Additional Information: Students will need to wear protective footwear and overalls purchased by themselves prior to the start of the course.
