The RAF relies heavily on defence intelligence to support operations in both peace and war time. As an Intelligence Analyst (Voice) you will interpret foreign language transmissions using state-of-the-art surveillance systems. This will provide vital intelligence to support military forces deployed around the world.

Qualifications you need

You must have at least one of the following:

 

  • A minimum of 2 GCSEs (or acceptable equivalents) at a minimum of Grade C
  • SCE Standard Grade 2/Scottish National 5 in English Language and Mathematics.

Joining age

17.5-35 (must attest before 36th birthday)

Other entry requirements;

You must be a UK citizen or holder of dual UK/other nationality

Whether or not you were born in the UK, you should have resided there for 5 years immediately preceding your application

Training

Intelligence Analysts receive comprehensive training which includes:

  • 10 week Basic Recruit Training
  • 2 years of specialist training at the Defence School of Languages where you will learn a modern language, currently Pashto, Arabic and Farsi, up to interpreter standard
