'Taste Success – A Future in Food' is a campaign run by UK food and drink manufacturers to tell you about the wide range of great long-term career opportunities available in the sector and show you that by becoming the food scientists and food technologists of the future, you can enjoy a rewarding career.  You could be developing a new range of cereals, taste testing ice creams or creating an advertising campaign for soft drinks - there's no shortage of options and exciting opportunities!  Careers in the food industry are exciting, challenging and there's never a dull moment. Pay and prospects are good and many employers pay you well whilst helping you to gain the qualifications you need.  Did you know? UK food and drink manufacturers employ a staggering 400,000 people in a huge variety of roles from food scientists and technologists to engineers and technicians to marketers and salespeople. Taste Success is run by the Food and Drink Federation (FDF), the voice of UK food and drink manufacturers.

Owen Paterson MP, the Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, met food and drink engineers at the Food and Drink Federation (FDF)’s Taste Success stand at the Big Bang Fair 2014 in Birmingham yesterday. Supporting food and drink manufacturers’ efforts to recruit the next generation of food engineers, the minister heard from engineering apprentices and graduates about the career opportunities in the sector.

To mark National Apprenticeship Week, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) Minister George Eustice MP today visited McCain Foods to get a flavour of apprenticeships within food and drink manufacturing, the UK’s largest manufacturing sector.

Today, the food and drink industry’s standard for engineering Apprenticeships has been published. As part of the government’s Trailblazer project, the food and drink industry has developed a standard for Food and Drink Mechanical Maintenance Engineer and Food and Drink Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer roles.
