Norwich is one of England’s fastest growing urban areas and it acts as the major regional service centre for many large companies. It has sector strengths in finance and insurance (Aviva is based there for example), manufacturing, retail and public services. Specialist areas of strength are its research park (focusing on sectors such as Agriculture, Food and Biotech Life Sciences, with strong links to UEA), its teaching hospital and a technology cluster.
