As part of the Royal BAM Group, BAM Nuttall have been continuously committed to investing in Britain’s national infrastructure, from being one of the first contractors starting work on Tier 1 of The Olympic Park to building The Dartford Tunnel.
For years we have been annually recruiting Apprentices to join our business as Civil Engineers and Quantity Surveyors. We offer a 2 year Apprenticeship Programme, which consists of our students studying a Level 3 BTEC in Construction in the Built Environment and NVQ Level 3 in Construction Contracting Operations. Whilst studying, our candidates’ time is divided between time spent in college, and time spent being hands on working on our sites.
Once the Apprenticeship is complete, our candidates can progress onto our HND Programme, where they work towards attaining chartership with either the Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) or the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES). After 4 years our candidates are as qualified as those who have undertaken a degree in the same field, yet have the added advantage of integrated site experience. They also boast 4 years employment with a reputable company.
In a number of recent case studies, our Apprentices have described their experience on our Programme as:
* ‘Challenging, professional, rewarding, exciting and inspiring.’
* ‘A great journey and experience.’
* ‘Getting away to an exciting future.’
At BAM Nuttall, we take great pride in our Apprenticeship Programme, and we are recruiting again for young people who need a dynamic and challenging hands-on experience. We have dedicated Apprentice Advisors to support our candidates through our programme, and our wider business is continuously committed to mentoring and practically training our young people whilst on site. One of our Apprentices, who after finishing his 13 weeks at college and recently started working on site, commented:
‘I’m living and working in Acton, London on the Acton Main Line site, which has been great so far. I have been involved in levelling, concrete tests, I have built surveys and even done some design work; and it’s only week 4!’
We believe strongly in investing in the future, not just for our company, but for our wider industry as we continuously strive to raise the profile of Engineering, working closely with the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network (STEMnet) and the Women’s Engineering Society (WES).
There are young people out there, wanting to make an impact, to leave behind a tangible legacy and hungry for the challenge of hands-on active learning. Young people with a passion for STEM subjects, but are unaware of the diverse world of Civil Engineering. BAM Nuttall is offering the perfect opportunity for such candidates to excel and discover their full potential.
Our application process opens on 1st May 2016 and interested candidates can apply online through our website http://www.bamnuttall.co.uk/pg/careers on or after this date.
Spread the word, share our passion and start investing into a bright future with us today.
