Glittering awards ceremony for the College’s brightest and best

Compere, College Governor and pastor Reverend, Nims Obunge, hosted the awards.

Alumna, Dona Mannaperuma returned to give a fascinating speech about the Access to Science course she completed at the College and how it prepared her excellently for higher education. Dona achieved Distinctions in all of her Access to Science modules and progressed to London Met to study for a Bioscience degree. She graduated with first class honours in July and began her PhD in Prostate Cancer at London Met in September.

Other notable award student winners to cross the stage were Construction winner Charlotte Farkas who also won Young Carer of the Year Award in November, Higher Education winner Julie Rookley who completed the Access to Nursing course and travelled down from Kettering where she is currently working as a nurse while studying for her degree and Charlie Baker who also completed his Access to IT course with flying colours and is now studying at Kings College, University of London.

Partner employer winners were Derek Tuitt of Hewlett-Packard who has been very supportive in developing ICT and Computing learners, Molly Greenyer of Languageworks4U and Susan Hickey collected the award on behalf of Enfield Council’s Apprenticeship and Placement Team with apprentices Stephanie Partou and Zak Redmond.

This year the College presented the Paul Head Excellence Award to Prince’s Trust award winner Francesca Banton. Former College Principal, Paul Head sadly passed away in September. Francesca, completed the 12 week Prince’s Trust course and a combination of mentoring and work experience combined with talent and determination enabled Francesca to secure an Apprenticeship with Barclay’s Bank.

Vice Principal Curriculum and Learner Experience, Kurt Hintz said, “It was wonderful to see our learners receive the Awards that they deserved for their efforts last year.
