Going Clothes Shopping? How to Make Your Money Go FurtherPosted: 16th of January 2015 by
Staying stylish season-to-season can be tough when you are working to a tight budget, and even if you are not too pushed for cash, it is always nice to get more for your money. With spring on the horizon, there will be those who are thinking about their next looks, while others will be wanting to take advantage of the changing seasons to find a bargain or two. To help everyone get their fashion fix for less, we present six quick ideas for before you hit the high street!
1. Sample Sales
Before you even think of hitting the high street, it is worth checking to see if there are any sample sales events nearby. These are where designers sell off excess and out-of-season stock from their warehouses. These are run by many big-name designers, and can offer huge savings on designer clothes. However, you will often need to get up early and queue to get in, while they may be hard to find outside of larger cities. Also, they often won’t accept returns, so check your goods before you buy.
2. Check Social Media
Follow your favourite brands and shops on Twitter and like them on Facebook. They may be promoting money-off deals, sales, and more.
3. Get Online
While you are logged in, sign up to email alerts from your top choice brands – they want your custom and will often reward your loyalty with money-off codes, exclusive online offers, and advance warning of sales events.
4. Earn Money Back
Before you shut down your computer, check out sites such as Quidco, which offer cashback on online purchases. It is certainly worth checking any online offers before braving the outside world and heading to the high-street. Especially if you can get cashback!
5. Shop Out of Season
Rather than looking for the next thing, why not shop out of season a little bit too? This will require some planning – you need to think ahead, but it will pay off in the end by saving on coats in the summer and shorts in the winter! If you like to stay on trend you can get around this by opting for classic items that won’t go out of fashion. You can always buy a cheaper up-to-date item to go with it!
6. BONUS: Why Go Shopping at All?
In fact, you may not need to go out shopping at all. If you are the type of person who looks after their clothes you may be able to refresh your wardrobe by swapping unwanted items. You can do this online via sites like Swishing.co.uk – or you could, of course, see what your friends have that you could exchange your unwanted clothes for!
