Dean Robinson, 22-years-old, from Northern Ireland

This year Dean was nominated for the Person of the Year award by his colleague, after playing a pivotal role in saving the life of a vulnerable member of his community.

In August this year he went above and beyond in helping with the tragic flooding in Derry, Northern Ireland following the aftermath of the storm that hit North West of Northern Ireland

His journey with the Red Cross started when he was 17-year-old.

“I asked my mum about the BRC Land Rover and she said she had a friend who volunteered that I could speak to, and that’s how I got my foot in the door. It just started as killing time. They said I can drive, but I’m not going to get paid and that sounded fine to me. I ended up really enjoying it and since then I’ve been to Buckingham Palace and met some amazing young volunteers from around the world.”

His day job is kitchen classroom assistant at North West regional college part-time and after work he goes straight to the BRC office.
