The Royal Air Force has been awarded Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer status and winner of the Macro Employer category at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2017.

I joined the Deloitte Consulting Graduate scheme within the Actuarial team after graduating in 2016. Currently aligned to Insurance, I have also had past experience in other areas of the Actuarial team here, such as Pensions, Banking and data analytics. Prior to joining Deloitte, I had internships at Zurich Insurance within their General Insurance Reserving team, at the Royal Bank of Scotland within the Risk team, and at a smaller Actuarial Recruitment company.

Women make up 23% of the core STEM occupations in the UK and 24% of those working in core STEM industries. We have 61,430 more women working in core STEM in 2017, but there is still a lot of work to be done to carry on growing this number.

If the answer is yes then you might want to consider an actuarial apprenticeship. The IFoA provide a professional qualification called the Certified Actuarial Analyst (CAA) which forms part of an actuarial apprenticeship. With an apprenticeship you can go from school into a career in finance or business, working for some of the world’s top employers, earning whilst you learn.

What’s great about my actuarial apprenticeship is that I have been involved in such a variety of different projects early on. I’m treated like a graduate and trusted to produce work to the same level and quality.
