I knew quite early on that I didn’t want to go to University so decided to get a full time role as a Customer Service Advisor with a high street bank. Whilst in my role at Santander I quickly realised I needed more personal progression and that I wanted a fresh challenge.
When I initially saw the vacancy for my apprenticeship with the CPS I was intrigued about the role and the organisation. This then inspired me to look further into apprenticeships themselves and the CPS as a Following further research about provides, the great benefits that are on offer at the CPS and the career progression that is available; I decided to apply and was successful in obtaining a post.
I started in my role in August 2016; my first month was exciting and seemed to fly by! The work that my team do, recruiting internally and externally for vacancies in the CPS, both fast paced and interesting. I really enjoy the work that I do, , organising interviews and providing excellent customer service support. My 12 month apprenticeship went really quickly and I was delighted to be offered a permanent position within the team. Of course I accepted!
I have recently been offered a promotion with the Operations Division of the CPS for a Business Service Manager role. I think that without the experience of my apprenticeship with the Strategic Resourcing Team, I would never have had the confidence in myself or my skills to apply for this role. Being given responsibility by my line manager allowed me to develop both personally and professionally, I felt like a valued member of the team which helped me to perform well and contribute to the delivery of justice.
The main piece of advice which I would give to someone thinking of applying for an apprenticeship is, do it! It has been one of the best experiences; I have had constant help and support throughout my journey and time with the team. An apprenticeship with the CPS allows you to be yourself whilst learning new things every single day.
