Young Personal Trainer gets Carlisle 'Berry-Fit'!

An 18-year old from Wetheral, Carlisle has launched his own unique fitness class, designed to get the people of Carlisle fitter and healthier.

Henry Berry, a former pupil at Austin Friars School enrolled on a Personal Training course with Premier Training International after completing his A-levels, qualifying in August 2014. After deciding the university-route to a career wasn’t for him and being a regular player for Carlisle RFC, Henry wanted to combine his passion for fitness and training with a career, which has since gone from strength to strength.

As well as working as a Gym Instructor at The Crown Hotel, Henry has recently launched his own training classes, open to all members of the local community. BerryFit, a pay-as-you-go fitness class which takes place at the Downagate Community Centre every Monday at 6pm incorporates a range of bodyweight exercises, designed to increase muscle tone, burn fat and ultimately, improve fitness.

Henry comments: “Throughout my time at sixth form, I was pretty undecided about what I wanted to do for a career going forwards and what my next step was going to be once I left school. My family and one of my teachers suggested a career in personal training because of my background in sport and fitness – and I’m very grateful they did! The course with Premier was really comprehensive and enjoyable, providing easy to understand information which I continue to use every day in the gym.

“It’s been great to work with a number of different clients across the local community and help them reach their health and fitness goals. The classes in particular have been a real success and we regularly get 12-15 people each week coming down to the centre to train, interact and have fun. We still have a number of spaces available and it would be great to see more people across the town come down and get involved!”

Henry’s ambition is to launch a number of new classes over the coming months and to grow BerryFit as a brand, incorporating Boxing, Kettlebells and nutritional support into his training sessions.
