Lana- Digital Marketing and Content Apprentice at Warner Bros

"Apprenticeships are an amazing first step into a career as you can start working in an industry that you may not have worked in before."

My Apprenticeship at Warner Bros.

I am a Digital Marketing and Content Apprentice and I am studying the Digital Marketing Level 4 Apprenticeship.

I completed Science A Levels in 2017 before taking a gap year. I wasn’t entirely sure what to do afterwards but as I had studied Science, I decided to go to University to study Biomedical Science. I very quickly realised this was the wrong decision for me so went back to work in a retail store before landing my apprenticeship at Warner Bros.

I chose to do an apprenticeship as I decided I wanted to get straight into work but continue learning at the same time. My role keeps me busy and I have more structure in my working day which is something I felt I didn’t have at Uni. Apprenticeships are an amazing first step into a career as you can start working in an industry that you may not have worked in before.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

I love the variation of work that I get to do. I am involved in a variety of meetings and projects such as agency pitches, creative brainstorms, marketing strategies and video shoots. My ideas are always listened to and respected which is so important as I feel valued in the team. Everyone has been extremely welcoming and there’s always someone willing to help if I get stuck. It’s really interesting to see how the things I learn in my apprenticeship qualification are applied in a real company. I also love Harry Potter so working here is a dream come true!

What has been your highlight so far?

It's got to be helping with a video shoot!

What advice would you give to people thinking of doing an apprenticeship?

Consider what your strengths are and what you enjoy, and whether you are ready to commit to working full time. You will be extremely busy and will always have work to do, whether it is office work or assignments for your qualification. So far, choosing an apprenticeship rather than forcing myself to do a degree has been one of the best decisions I have ever made!
