New role for an apprentice to join. You will provide 1st line technical support to the business, assisting with hardware and software problems via phone, or onsite; help maintain servers, network and business IT infrastructure; ensure all software and hardware has been updated; and ensure all online and offline security for company data is upheld.


  • Providing technical support; answering support queries wither onsite or via phone or email
  • Maintaining a high degree of customer service for all support queries
  • Ability to take ownership of user problems when dealing with user issues
  • Support users in the use of computer equipment by providing necessary training and advice
  • Document guides on user issues and place on intranet as Instructed
  • Liaising with 3rd party suppliers where problems cannot be resolved in house
  • Responsible for ensuring company backups are complete
  • Setup new starter and leaver user accounts
  • Ensure all relevant servers have latest updates
  • Assist with product listing on ecommerce platforms
  • Ensure all security software is applied and active
  • Help maintain and support the company IT infrastructure and communications facilities

Annual wage: £175.00 - £195.00

Working week: Monday – Friday 09.00am – 17.00pm. Effective approximately 1 month after the start date you will be put on rota to work 1 Saturday in 3 from 08.00am – 12.00pm. Total hours per week: 35.00.

Expected duration: 30 months

Possible start date: 01 Jul 2019

Desired skills: 

  • Relevant 1st line/helpdesk support experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on windows desktop technologies (Win 2008r2/Win 10/thin clients)
  • Experience with using and troubleshooting Outlook within a network environment
  • Understanding of PC Hardware set-up and configuration
  • Excellent telephone manner and face to face communication skills
  • Good problem solving and sourcing alternative solutions to issues as they arise
  • Basic SQL knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Any Magento experience would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Any Microsoft Certifications would be beneficial but is not essential
