Business Administration Apprenticeship – Admin Officer – AO
We are looking for a proactive, well organised, flexible and an adaptable team player who will support various activities within a busy team.
No previous project experience is necessary, but an interest in projects and project delivery is key.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the UK’s largest producer of official statistics, covering a range of key economic, social and demographic topics. These include measuring changes in the value of the UK economy, estimating the size, geographic distribution and characteristics of the population, and providing indicators of price inflation, employment, earnings, crime and migration.
Every 10 years, households in England and Wales are required, by law, to respond to a survey which has provided an unparalleled source of information about population, household and housing situations.
This has been happening since 1801 so the next one will be 210 years old.
The information gathered by the census is highly valuable in supporting local and central government departments see how the country and its population has been affected over time and helps created informed decisions for the future.
This apprenticeship will sit with the Census and Data Collection Transformation Programme (CDCTP) Programme Management Office (PMO) and is focussed on providing the administrative support required to help the Programme Management Office function smoothly.
The role will also give the opportunity to develop knowledge and experience of Project and Programme Management.
This apprenticeship will work within the Project Delivery Profession.

- Providing admin support for Board and Committee meetings
- Managing the PMO shared email inbox
- Assist with Grade 6 inbox/calendar
- Developing and maintaining standard templates for documentation
- Organising, rooms, travel, hospitality and meeting bookings
- General administrative duties
This is an incredible apprenticeship opportunity to work towards and gain a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship. As a Business Administration apprentice, you will be gaining a work-based qualification. This means you will be working in full-time employment, gaining experience and working towards your qualification, as well as attending formal training. You will develop skills that will aid you in the workplace, such as organisation, communication, the ability to work under pressure, teamwork and lots more.
