The firm now has a great reputation due to their specialist industry experience. Horwich Farrellys Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship is delivered by BPP University who have been established for over 40 years. The two year course will prepare you for life as a fee earner and provide a direct pipeline to our Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship.

Horwich Farrelly’s Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship is delivered by BPP University who have been established for over 40 years. The two year course will prepare you for life as a fee earner and provide a direct pipeline to our Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship.

The basic purpose of the job and its primary objectives:

  • To undertake administrative duties to support the efficient running of the team.
  • To assist Fee Earners with files in a department by producing standard documentation, updating the Firm’s database accordingly and directly communicating with third parties in a professional and effective manner.
  • To deal with a caseload of files and to assist other fee earners as and when required. Ensure that clients are confident that their legal affairs are dealt with in a business-like and competent manner and to ensure the efficient operation of the firm.

As an Apprentice your duties and responsibilities will increase and progress over time as you become more competent in your role. These include:

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • To undertake all administration duties as requested and be prepared to use a high degree of self-management and initiative.
  • Management and coordination of files and correspondence/documents.
  • To make and receive telephone calls so as to provide updates of information to relevant parties as required.
  • To prepare and process correspondence and documents through word processing.
  • To administer daily post and assist with daily filing of documentation on files.
  • To ensure that an effective filing system is maintained.
  • To assist with the dispatch of outgoing correspondence and enclosures.
  • Conducting legal research.

Progressing to providing support to fee earners as and when required including:

  • Assisting the fee earners with chasers and post.
  • Updating information on our case management systems as requested.
  • To undertake direct communication with third parties / clients on the telephone in a professional and effective manner.
  • Providing first line support for client queries.
  • Producing standard documentation.
  • Any other duties which will assist the Fee Earners.

Progression to assisting on all types of files:

  • To include issuing proceedings to recover insurer clients outlay, dealing with pre-litigation claims and MoJ work.
  • Drafting Legal documents.
  • To assist with the dispatch of outgoing correspondence and enclosures.
  • To ensure the confidentiality and security of the firm’s and client documentation and information.
  • To undertake any specific training when required to do so.

Progressing to file management:

  • Ensuring that all cases are dealt with in compliance with SRA and Law Society Practice Management Standards.
  • To practice good file management.
  • Ensure all important dates are diarised.
  • Keep up to date with all correspondence relating to files.
  • Comply with Horwich Farrelly’s practices and procedures.

Qualifications Required:
  • 5 GCSEs grade A*-C including Maths and English
  • 3 A Levels grade A*-C or equivalent
