Course Summary
This course is designed to enable students to gain qualifications to start a career as an administrator within an office environment. The qualification is credit based and allows flexibility to adapt to many different kinds of businesses choosing optional routes dependant on the job role.

The course will cover the following mandatory areas:
  • Communication in a business environment
  • Principles of providing administrative services
  • Principles of business document production and information management
  • Understand employer organisations
  • Manage personal performance and development
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues

You will then choose from a wide selection of optional units choosing from topics such as:
  • Customer Relationships
  • Digital Marketing
  • Social Media
  • Using Email Applications
  • Word, Spreadsheet or Powerpoint Software
  • Payroll
  • Diary Management
  • Administrative Support for meetings
  • Greet and welcome visitors.

Functional Skills
- Maths, English & ICT Level 1
The candidate will learn about Employment Rights and Responsibilities and apply Personal Learning and Thinking Skills throughout their Apprenticeship.
Length of Course
The Apprenticeship lasts for a minimum of 12 months to ensure the candidate can demonstrate significant work experience alongside their professional qualifications.

The apprentice will attend college one day per month gaining training and knowledge to support the qualification. The rest of the qualification will be delivered in the workplace with the assessor visiting once every 4-6 weeks. If Functional Skills are required, weekly attendance will be required – booking in on one of the timetabled slots (am, pm or evening)

Apprenticeship Framework Business and Administration (CFA)
 This Learning Provider has achieved a sector success rate of 83% for this type of apprenticeship training. 
Expected Duration 12 months.

  • Able to deliver a good standard of customer service. 
  • Able to perform in a customer contact role. 
  • Well presented.
Qualifications Required   
You must already hold GCSE’s in Maths, English and ICT grades A*-C (or equivalent qualification such as Functional Skills Level 2).

Previous experience within an office environment is desirable, work experience in some capacity essential.
Personal Qualities   
  • Good time management and an ability to meet strict deadlines. 
  • Able to work on own initiative whilst remaining part of the team. 
  • Flexibility. Busy periods may require longer working hours. 
  • Ability to work accurately and quickly following established processes and procedures, remaining calm under pressure.
Important Other Information   
The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
The Wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Individuals who already have a Level 4 qualification are now eligible for a Level 5 or above Higher Apprenticeship only. They are not eligible for funding for an Intermediate Level, Advanced Level or Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship.

Promotion within the company or advancement to Business Administration Level 3.
