Apprentice Support Worker

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work towards your Level 2 Adult Care Worker qualification, within an ambitious and dynamic care provider. We will train you to become a highly skilled support worker looking after people with a range of disabilities and care needs.

The level 2 apprenticeship training programme develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to care for and support the needs of adults, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives.

About the Role

At times the job role will involve working in teams alongside others, and when confident and skilled, it will involve working independently.

A typical day looks like this:

  • Prompting or helping someone to get dressed and cook meals
  • Supporting someone to do the things they enjoy which may include day trips, puzzles, games and films
  • Supporting customers to various appointments
  • Recording the activities in the electronic records

No day is the same and the activities can vary hugely. Your working week varies too, depending on shift patterns and rota. Most supports are generally during the day but you may be required to work some evenings and weekends.

About the Company

Kerensa Care and Support exists to empower people to develop and grow. This not only focuses on the people we support, but extends to our teams and the communities in which we engage. We provide support to people in their own homes to enable them independent living, creating an environment of empowerment beyond what would be achievable on their own. We enable people to pursue their hobbies and interests, with the appropriate level of care and support.

We really look after our team members and have a whole raft of perks and benefits. These include:

Welcome Bonus - We offer a welcome bonus as a nice introduction to Kerensa Care & Support. Your welcome bonus of £500 will be paid to you following your induction and first full month of employment. Of course, we want to promote continuity in our teams and so this bonus is all yours providing you remain with us for at least 3 months, otherwise the amount is reclaimed in full.

Free Netflix Subscription -Sometimes it’s good to switch-off, by switching-on. To access your free subscription, email employment@kerensacare.co.uk and let us know you’d like your voucher.

Extra Holiday (Annual Leave Loyalty Programme) - Loyalty to us is rewarded with loyalty to you. For every year you work with us, you’ll gain an additional day of paid annual leave (up to a maximum of 35 days inc. bank holidays). This is a significant 7 days above the statutory minimum of 28 days. You don’t need to opt in to enjoy this one, we’ll keep track, and it will accumulate automatically.

Paid Birthday - It’s our birthday present to you! This is automatically added onto your annual leave allowance, immediately. We recognise it may not always be possible to take annual leave on your actual birthday, so in some cases it may need to be the next available day. But we think that’s pretty good!

Monthly Award Scheme - At Kerensa Care & Support, our “Helping Hand” Award recognises your hard work and contribution with a £20 gift voucher for the winning nominee. As we grow in future, we’re excited to introduce even bigger and more exciting prizes! To submit nominations for your teammates, email your manager or employment@kerensacare.co.uk.

Employee Loan - We offer a £600 interest-free workplace loan if you ever need it. We hope that this can save you money if it stops you having to borrow money from elsewhere. It could be to upgrade a laptop, replace a boiler or fix your car, the loan is repaid over 12 months and deduct from your payslip each month. Email employment@kerensacare.co.uk for more information or to apply.

Charity Days - We want support charity wherever we can, and so we want to support you to do the same. We encourage you to take a day each year to volunteer with our selected partner charity – and of course we pay your time to show our appreciation. We’ll be sharing more information soon on our partner charities.

Have a coffee on us - A key part of what we do is supporting people in the community. So when you’re out providing support, we’ll pay for a coffee up to £5 per month. Just send a picture of your receipt to employment@kerensacare.co.uk and we’ll reimburse you in that months payroll.

Blue Light Discounts - A Blue Light card opens up hundreds discounts online and in high-street stores. If you don’t already have one, then sign-up, make the most of it, and email the receipt to employment@kerensacare.co.uk so we can reimburse you. We don’t want it to cost you anything!

Investing in You - We value our people, their skills and personal development. We have already supported team members through a whole range of training and qualifications. If there is something you’re interested in doing, and you need support to access it, speak to your manager and we’ll see what we can do.

Summer Garden Parties - When summer rolls around we just cannot resist the temptation of a summer garden party. Keep your eyes peeled for this year’s date – last year there was a free BBQ, lots of garden games and we hosted a mini-village fete!
