BA (Hons) Creative Music Production Degree Course

Here at ICMP London our personalised learning approach means we really get to know you as a producer, artist or music professional. We’ll provide you with an individual educational experience, and will work with you to nurture your musical talent, delve into your future ambitions, and provide ongoing opportunities for live performances, auditioning, recording, touring and career development. And you’ll significantly improve your music production skills too.

The BA (Hons) Creative Music Production course has been designed around four principal programme aims:

  • To develop your artistic and creative skillset in the areas of music production, music technology, composition and song creation
  • To ensure you acquire and are able to apply the practical skills, understanding and attributes necessary to work successfully in professional music production settings
  • To develop your creativity in a context of analytical, critical and technical understanding of music and music production
  • To ensure you acquire and are able to apply appropriate business, entrepreneurial and life skills necessary for building and maintaining dynamic and viable career opportunities

ICMP Industry Tutors

ICMP’s highly esteemed music production teaching faculty is made up of experienced musicians, accomplished academics, qualified teachers and respected industry practitioners. They’ve shaped the face of the music business and are ready to give generous amounts of their time to help energise and inspire you. They’re highly focused on what works now in today’s music industry, and keen to pass their knowledge of the ever-changing music business landscape onto you. Above all, they’ll work hard to build and sustain a creative and entrepreneurial community which will identify emerging talent and, ultimately, support you and your classmates as the next generation of skilled professional music producers within the music industry.

ICMP The Hub - Industry Engagement and Career Opportunities

ICMP is connected to all the major record labels, publishers, promoters and management companies active in London and the wider music industry, and we make those contacts available to all our students. Our dedicated career development team, run by music industry professionals and experienced careers counsellors, known as The Hub, work hard to provide you with a wide range of advice and guidance, including one-to-one sessions with music industry advisers and career guidance experts.

Entry Requirements:

Extended Diploma or International Baccalaureate equivalent to 80 UCAS points, or an ICMP Higher Diploma. In addition, you should hold GCSE Grade C or above in English, or suitable equivalent, such as Level 2 Key Skills, Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy.

We also welcome applications from mature applicants who may have no formal qualifications but who can nevertheless demonstrate their suitability for study through appropriate skills and experience. For international student entry requirements, see ‘International Applications’.

All applicants will be invited to audition. 

Fees

Taking a music production course at ICMP makes financial sense too, with fees for degrees well below the £9,000 ceiling charged by many traditional universities, and also much lower than other UK contemporary music degree providers.
