Join Blend Youth Project on this traineeship, and gain some valuable and exciting work experience, alongside essential skills to boost your employment potential. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to get some excellent real-wold experience with work experience in 3 different sectors: Retail, Business Admin, and Business and Enterprise. These are 16 week traineeships in which you will receive on the job training, along with coaching with the guidance of Babington's friendly tutors.

Blend Youth Project has over 25 Charity shops over the Derbyshire area, in which some have a furniture recycling unit. The Business and Enterprise role involves tasks such as:

  • The restoration and up-cycling of furniture, which may include painting, restoring, and preparing furniture for selling.
  • Taking photos of the furniture ready to sell online
  • Costing the furniture for resale price

The typical duties that are expected in the retail role may be:

  • Learning about excellent customer service
  • Learning how to operate a till
  • Designing shop displays
  • Understanding stock control and pricing 

For the Business admin role, some of your tasks may be:

  • Taking phone calls, passing onto the relevant person or department
  • Writing up and designing online adverts for furniture
  • Filing, and photocopying
  • Supporting the Enterprise unit with any adhoc duties

Blend Youth Project are looking for trainees with good communication skills, and the ability to be flexible within a team. You should have a desire to learn new skills, and a commitment to help your team in the best way possible. You must also have good time keeping skills, and the ability to listen closely to instructions. 

This opportunity is designed to give you a valuable work based learning experience, which can lead to future employment or an apprenticeship with this company for the right learner. If you haven’t got your GCSE A-C in Maths and English you will work towards a Functional Skills qualification at an appropriate level. 

The Blend Youth Project are also offering some fantastic incentives to support their candidates which includes paid travel costs, and a bursary of £7 per day if eligible.
