About the Programme

During the first 12 months of this comprehensive training programme, you will be the dedicated BMW Product Specialist widely known as a BMW Genius. You will have the opportunity to learn and experience everything there is to know about the BMW product range and technology through 7 weeks face to face training at the BMW Group Academy. This role will offer you the best start in the automotive industry with a dedicated BMW representative to help you through your training and qualification as well as a network of support for you to utilise on a daily basis. At the end of the programme you will become a certified BMW Product Genius and will have achieved an IMI Diploma Level 2 in Customer Service.

Working Week

This is a full time role, based on a 5 day week rota which will include weekends.

Entry Requirements

Age: 17+

Full UK Driver’s Licence

Prior Attainment: Three GCSE Grades A*-C (New Grades 9-4, or equivalent) in English, Maths and one other subject

Equivalent Grades include:

  • BTEC first diplomas and certificates
  • OCR Nationals
  • Key Skills Level 2
  • NVQs
  • Essential Skills (Wales)
  • Functional Skills Level 2
  • Core Skills (Scotland)

A day in the life of a BMW Genius

The Genius role is unique to BMW Group. The role is entirely customer focused, creating inspiration and excitement, offering exceptional customer service and personalised care without the requirement to sell.

The main objectives are to:

  • Ensure a BMW premium experience: Understand each individual customer and how different products and technologies will suit their requirements
  • Inspire and generate excitement for the customer, be welcoming, attentive and knowledgeably acting as the dedicated product and brand expert
  • Boost sales indirectly by creating a pressure free environment, offering the right amount of information regarding products, features, functions and benefits
  • Create a unique BMW treatment

During your time as a BMW Genius you will be responsible for the following:

  • Pro-actively approach customers in the showroom, provide a warm welcome and offer assistance
  • Provide customers with specification information of BMW products and features
  • Bridge Aftersales waiting time for customers by presenting features and new technologies
  • Provide additional marketing material if requested and gather necessary contact information
  • Perform customer need analysis
  • Help the customer to experience the vehicle with all five senses
  • Organise and manage the test drive process
  • Configure the car tailored to the customers’ needs
  • Perform vehicle handovers and explain the features of the customer’s new vehicle, answering any operating questions they may have
  • Be responsible for the preparation of the showroom, ensure a strong selection of demonstration cars are available
  • Run Retailer events to present product and technologies to a wider audience
  • Support the wider Sales Team by sharing your expert product knowledge
  • Promote your role and your knowledge of our products and technologies through the use of social media and other suitable channels
