Cert HE in Creative Music Production Course (1 year Higher Diploma)

About this course

Encompassing live, studio and digital music making, you will work in a professional setting with experienced industry tutors. Classes take place in the ICMP’s Mac Labs, 24-track recording studio and dedicated teaching spaces, using industry-standard hardware and software including Pro Tools, Logic X, Ableton Live and Sibelius.

Alongside developing your musical creativity and technical know-how, this course will give you the interpersonal, business and entrepreneurial skills needed to broaden your musical horizons and progress your career as a music producer. As part of a dynamic learning community, you will have opportunities to build your personal and professional network, linking with the industry and working in real-world settings. 

Course modules

A wide variety of professional musicians are involved in the delivery of this programme. Students learn from an experienced and committed faculty of leading educators and top professional musicians who have developed a curriculum in line with the demands of today’s dynamic music industry. This ensures that students are able to interact and network with professional musicians and experienced industry practitioners throughout the programme. Importantly, there are a wide variety of musical activities in which to engage, including showcase events and public performance opportunities, and the chance to work in recording studios and other professional settings. Modules you will study include:

  • Studio Recording and Engineering
  • Music Culture, Context and Criticism
  • Creative Composition and Arrangement

Successful completion of programme Cert HE Creative Music Production at ICMP leads to the award of Certificate of Higher Education by the University of East London.

Above all, they’ll work hard to build and sustain a creative and entrepreneurial community which will identify emerging talent and, ultimately, support you and your classmates as the next generation of skilled professional music producers within the music industry.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will typically have A levels, BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma or International Baccalaureate equivalent to 48 UCAS points, or an ICMP Higher Diploma. In addition, you should hold GCSE Grade C or above in English, or suitable equivalent, such as Level 2 Key Skills, Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy.

We also welcome applications from mature applicants who may have no formal qualifications but who can nevertheless demonstrate their suitability for study through appropriate skills and experience.

All applicants will be invited to audition.
