Introduction to the course
Theme 1: Health and Well-being
Theme 2: Legislation, Frameworks and Professional Practice
Theme 3: Play, Development and Learning for School Readiness
Theme 4: Professional Development
Students are required to complete 375 hours of work placement for the Certificate and 750 hours for the Diploma.
What do I need?
The Early Years Foundation Stage, staff holding an Early Years Educator Level 3 qualification must also have achieved GCSEs in English and Maths, at grade C or above.
How is the course taught?
The course is taught in classroom and workshops and in work placements.
To achieve this qualification you will need to complete the following:
- Pass in all units
All units in this qualification are mandatory. Units will be internally assessed.
- Long Study - This will be internally assessed.
Short Answer paper based on Themes 1: Health and Well-being.
Reflective Study based on Theme 3: Play, Development and Learning for School Readiness.
Extended Essay based on Theme 3: Play, Development and Learning for School Readiness.
Assessments 1, 2 and 3 will be externally set and externally marked.
Competence in a real work environment.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by completing tasks, projects, assignments which are internally and externally assessed.
You will also complete work placements which are also assessed.
What does it lead to?
Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that students will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or access higher education. From September 2014 the Early Years Educator Qualifications are the only qualifications to confer a licence to practice.Sign-up or log in to apply
