Immerse yourself in the culture of Fijian people and experience their community village life for yourself. As a volunteer of this project you will be given the opportunity to experience all aspects of traditional Fijian culture and also have the chance to explore the islands.

Living in a traditional Fijian village with a friendly and welcoming host family will remove you from the fast-paced town life and you can immerse yourself in traditional village life by getting involved in activities such as gardening, cooking, basket weaving, mat-making and farming.

Mornings will be spent assisting the local school teachers at a school and your time there will be split between tutoring individuals and small groups and teaching non-core subjects such as art, drama, music and IT. Any additional skills you can bring with you will be very much appreciated as there is a need for arts and crafts, sports, games and music to be done with the children.

They were fascinated by stories from distant lands, I showed my class some photos of the English countryside in mid-winter and they were delirious at the sight of snow – Chris Church

Evenings are generally spent with the family where members of the extended families catch up on the day, play cards, tell stories or maybe even sing along to the strumming of a guitar.
