Description of the job
Joining an Airbus Apprenticeship programme could be the ideal start to your career, just as it has been for many of our Senior Managers today. We consider our apprentices to be ideally qualified, with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to enable them to make an immediate contribution when they enter the workforce.
An Airbus Craft Apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to gain qualifications with no fees, whilst acquiring new skills through vocational training, and a regular salary.
On the Mechanical and Electrical Wind Tunnel Apprenticeship at Airbus you will gain a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (Aeronautical Engineering) and a NVQ Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.
On completion of our 39 month programme you will become a skilled Wind Tunnel Technician with Electrical and Mechanical qualifications.
Apprentices on this programme study at City of Bristol College to achieve their qualifications, and their industry based work takes place at our Wind Tunnel facility at our Airbus site in Filton, Bristol.
Your first year on this Craft Apprenticeship programme will predominantly be spent at college to achieve the Level 2 Foundation course; learning about engineering operations, and achieving a number of technical certificates and company required qualifications.
Once the foundation phase is complete, our Craft Apprentices divide their time between college and the Airbus Wind Tunnel facility to work alongside our skilled Wind Tunnel Technicians. During your industry based work at Airbus you'll learn a range of different skills and methods including Electrical and Mechanical fitting, Machining, Hand finishing and 3D printing, to enable you to complete your level 3 vocational qualification.
In order to be eligible for this apprenticeship candidates must have a minimum of:
- Six GCSEs at Grade C or 4, which must include Maths, English Language and Science (either core and additional/double award, or physics).
- We can consider other qualifications such as Engineering BTEC Level 2, Engineering Diploma, Principle Learning, PEO Level 2 and Pathways to Apprenticeships as two GCSEs. Alternative qualifications must be in addition to the core GCSE subjects stated above.
Please note that you must also include a cover letter as part of your application for this programme which demonstrates your interest in aerospace and motivation to join the apprenticeship programme.
Please let us know if you need us to make any adjustments to allow you to access and participate fully in the recruitment process. Examples of this may include (but is not exclusive to) accessible facilities; additional time for written exercises; auxiliary aids; room layout; dietary requirements etc. If you wish to discuss this further please contact via email Apprentices@airbus.com. Any information disclosed will be treated in the strictest confidence.
