Entry Requirements

Candidates must have achieved the City and Guilds 2365 Level 2 or EAL Level 2 in Electrical Installation.

Who is the course for

This course is for those who have already acquired a Level 2 qualification in electrical installation and are now looking to gain employment. It is also for those who already work in the industry who require the underpinning knowledge to progress their career. Although the course covers the advanced theory and practical skills required for electrical installation work, candidates will be considered as an electrician’s mate or trainee by the sector at this level. Further training will be required to become fully qualified.

Suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) is compulsory in the workshop and may be purchased from Amazon, B&Q etc.

Please note the overalls should be navy colour and are described as workshop or warehouse coats at many outlets. Safety boots are also required

Candidates will also require: Text Book: Electrical Installation Work – Level 3 [Author: Peter Roberts] (ISBN: 978-1-138-91717-0 £24 approx).

Candidates will require the new 18th Edition wiring regulations book along with the on-site guide – these are likely to be published from July 2018 onwards.

How is the course assessed

6 x online multiple choice examinations, a number of practical and written assignments need to be completed throughout this course. All assessments must be completed and handed in by the deadline dates that will be provided to you by the tutor. Candidates will receive:

  • one free resit for all online exams – all future exams will be charged at £50 each.
  • one free resubmission for all written assignments – all future resubmissions will be charged at £50 each.

If a candidate does not attend or fails any of their scheduled practical assessments these will need to be rescheduled and charged at a cost of £100 each.

Where next - Further Studies

18th Edition wiring Regulation or if you already have this then the C&G2391-52 Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations. Alternatively candidates could specialize in Smart Home Installation or upgrade to a full C&G5357 NVQ Level 3 Diploma if they have sufficient site experience.
