Looking for an engineering apprenticeship?
Are you looking for an engineering apprenticeship local to you in the east Lancashire area, yet working with a global manufacturing business? Do you want to learn new skills, gain qualifications and get paid at the same time? Why not look at our Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship?
We are a global business, manufacturing brands such as Cushelle, Plenty, Bodyform, Velvet, Tena & Tork. We are committed to the training and development for the future success of our business and we want YOU to be part of it.
Our Apprenticeship programmes are well established operating across various sites in the UK. We are proud to see the development and success achieved by employees who began their engineering career as an apprentice. We believe you too can be a positive influence for the future of Essity.
Our aim is to help you maximise your skills and potential in an exciting and fast-moving environment. You will be supported by a friendly team and experienced mentors who will invest time and effort in helping you. You will be responsible for succeeding at work and at college, in an environment that will be challenging but also one that will enable you to enjoy your learning experience.
About our apprenticeship
This advanced apprenticeship allows you to gain key mechanical skills. After four years you should be equipped with the knowledge and experience to be appointed to a role in the first instance as a shift technical team member.
You will work Monday to Friday during your apprenticeship. During your first year you will attend Burnley College full time with scheduled work placements on site. From year two onwards you will be based on site, spending one day per week at Burnley College. This apprenticeship will start in September 2019.
The qualifications you will study are:
- Y1 - Level 3 BTEC/Diploma qualifications, including functional skills
- Y2 - Papermaking Technical Certificate Level 2
- Y3 - NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma, first year of Engineering HNC, and Papermaking Technical Certificate Level 3
- Y4 – Completing HNC
From year three there may be opportunities to home your skills acquired by working on shift. If this is the case, you will be given appropriate time off to attend college.
What you need to apply
You will have or are predicted to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 4 or above, including in Maths, English and Science. However, what is important for this apprenticeship is that you are able to show that you have a genuine interest in mechanical engineering through study, hobbies or groups that you may be involved with.
Key to success for this apprenticeship is to have the ability to balance time between studies and work to ensure success in both.
You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team and willing to learn and develop.
What we offer
We have high expectations of our apprentices who are rewarded by our competitive pay and benefits package. Salaries progress regularly throughout the apprenticeship, based on performance and qualifications gained.
