PETA Training are looking to source an exceptional maintenance apprentice for a UK based critical power specialist.
This is an exciting role travelling UK wide learning how to service and maintain a variety of UPS & Generators as part of a team. Eventually you will competently complete work and diagnose problems when they occur.
As an Engineering Operative Apprentice, you will become a valued member of the team. You will be offered support through a level 3 NVQ and site access qualification.
You will also have the opportunity to travel both nationally and internationally.
About the role
As an Engineering Operative Apprentice, you will:
Travel U.K wide and possible international trips
Become competent maintaining Uninterruptable Power Sources (UPS) and Generators
After training you will be inspecting installed units
Learn how to complete servicing and planned preventative maintenance
Become competent diagnosing faults and conducting repairs in line with company guidelines
Once competent you will be attending breakdowns identifying root causes of problems
Complete reports identifying all work undertaken
Work safely at all times
List duties ie Build and maintain a range of plastic injection mould tools
Training to be provided
During the 15 month programme you will be day released for 13 months to complete a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (Foundation Competence) at the PETA Ltd Engineering Training Centre in Havant (5 minute walk from Havant Railway Station), consisting of the following units:
Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment
Using and communicating technical information
Producing components using hand fitting techniques
Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment
Maintaining electrical equipment/systems
Assembly and Testing Electronic Circuits
You will then pass through a gateway and progress onto the End Point Assessment phase of the programme
Complete the 18th Edition qualification in addition to other apprenticeship outcomes You will be expected to progress and complete all qualifications in your apprenticeship standard, completing a level 3 NVQ post apprenticeship You will eventually be on a call out Rota (with enhanced pay)
The company is located on the Segensworth Industrial Estate, you will need to be able get here reliably This role involves travel and possible overnight stays away You will need to hold or have plans to achieve a full driving licence for this position
To be considered for the Engineering Operative Apprentice position, you will have the following skills:
- A basic knowledge of electrical and electronics will be advantageous
- Good basic hand skills and an interest in maintenance is required
- You will also need good communication skills
- A logical approach to problem solving
- Ambitious with a strong team working ethos
You will have good written and spoken communication skills be punctual, reliable and responsible
You will work well as a team member, be able to work effectively with a wide variety of people and be willing to assist when required
Well organised, good at planning ahead and can meet deadlines
You will need to be focused and self-motivated
A minimum requirement of 3 GCSE’s or equivalent at a C/4 grade or above including English and math’s is required
