Apprenticeship – Energy Recovery Facility Apprenticeship
Location – Marchwood SO40 4BD
An Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) converts residual waste that can’t be reused, recycled or composted into energy. This energy is used to provide electricity.
The role of an Engineer at a Veolia ERF is a varied challenging role, you will be exposed to all aspects of the operation from plant operating techniques to preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs. Whilst constantly striving for efficiency improvements. Advancements in technology require engineers to develop new skills and integrate new equipment on site.

The scheme offers suitably motivated individuals the opportunity to complete an Engineering Apprenticeship through classroom-based activity whilst at the same time, developing the necessary skills, experience and knowledge within the workplace to potentially progress to a senior engineering or management post within Veolia.
Flexibility is key to the role as the ERFs run 24/7 so an element of shift work will be required in order to gain exposure to all the roles on the plant. Secondments to other ERFs will be a necessity to broaden the experience so the ability to travel will be required.

State of the art technologies and challenging targets ensures no two days are the same for an Engineer in our ERFs.
Skills and Experience
5 GCSE grade A*-C or grades 4-9 (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science.
