Finance/HR Apprentice

School 21 is a state-funded, non-selective 4-18 school in Stratford, East London.

They are an innovative school, doing things differently for the 21st century.

Vacancy Description:

  • Raising purchase orders using SAGE once they have been authorised by the necessary budget holder
  • Placing necessary orders, negotiating the best possible price
  • Arranging deliveries of goods, ensuring deliveries are made to the back gate
  • Sorting through goods delivered, directing them to the necessary staff member
  • Collating invoices received from suppliers and matching them to purchase orders, entering the invoices on to the finance system, SAGE
  • Maintaining the finance filing system and filing all purchase orders, invoices etc correctly
  • Keeping the office organised and paperwork and data filed appropriately
  • Assisting with the induction of new starters and processing of leavers
  • Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date staff records ensuring all relevant documentation has been filed
  • Monitoring holidays and sickness absence
  • Drafting letters appropriate to changes in terms and conditions, salary increases and other routine HR matters
  • Updating the Single Central Record and carrying out periodic accuracy checks with the HR Manager
  • Assisting with the recruitment process for new staff; including the drafting of role descriptions, placing advertisements, shortlisting, arranging of interviews, DBS checks and drafting of letters
  • Assisting with the school’s staff appraisal process
  • Assisting with the production of statutory returns e.g. Workforce Census
  • Assisting with the induction of new starters and processing of leavers

Carrying out any other tasks as directed by the Finance Director

Desirable Skills:

  • Good communication skills using all relevant media.
  • Fluent in English. Second language is a plus

  • Determined self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Can show initiative, drive and enthusiasm.
  • Strong organizational skills

Desired Qualifications:

5 A-C GCSE grades
