Company Information

Russell Building Products Limited is a leading UK roof tile manufacturer with 170 staff operating at 3 sites within the UK.  The Company is part of an International Group of roof tile manufacturers with sister companies in Mexico, Texas and Florida.  

We are looking for a permanent Graduate Operations Management Trainee to support the Production Director with production planning, raw material cost controls, health & safety compliance and production administration.  This position would suit an engineering, construction or business graduate, or part qualified engineer, who is keen to build a career in engineering, manufacturing and production. 

Russell Building Products employs around 10 apprentices and commercial trainees whom we support through day release and evening training programmes at local colleges and following a probationary period, RRT is willing to fund an IOSH or similar qualification as part of this role.  Full training, support and supervision will be provided for all tasks.

Reporting into the Production Director, you will work either from our headquarters in Burton on Trent or from our Lockerbie offices and key responsibilities will include:

  • Daily operations meeting minutes
  • Daily/Monthly Operational reports
  • Daily production planning and scheduling – liaising between the sales and customer service teams and production
  • Managing the raw material stock control process
  • Maintaining up to date slow moving and obsolete stock records
  • Operational cost/variance analysis
  • Quality liaison / analysis
  • Safety Health & Environment operational compliance administration
  • Operational Management System compliance/administration
  • Carrying out any other ad hoc projects as required by the Production Director

Requirements

  • Enthusiastic attitude and willingness to be flexible and to take on and learn new tasks
  • Confident, assertive and reliable individual with good communication skills, capable of building strong working relationships with staff they liaise with in sales, customer services and accounts
  • Punctuality, ability to meet deadlines and good time management skills 
  • Teamwork ethic
  • A good level of IT skills, including Word and Excel
  • Willingness to challenge appropriately
