Infrastucture Technician Apprentice

Job Overview:

To provide 1st line on-site technical support to a designated School, ensuring the ICT needs of the school are met in relation to teaching, learning and administration.

To provide a professional and courteous service at all times

To provide regular reports to the Account Manager / Virtual Network Manager

The role is backed-up by the Support Team at Medhurst

Main Responsibilities: 

Technical

  • To provide technical support to the school’s ICT systems
  • Ensure equipment is installed and ready for use by staff and pupils, for example; PC’s, Laptops, Projectors, AV Equipment, Digital Signage, Printers
  • Ensure IT related services and security systems are working
  • Troubleshoot, resolve or escalate onsite issues with all relevant information
  • Reimaging devices
  • Hardware repair and replacement. From component level to complete device
  • Liaise with third party software and service providers where required

Administration

  • Utilise the Helpdesk System provided to manage all tickets and requests
    • Respond to all tickets within SLA
    • Ensure all reported incidents and requests are logged
    • Add time entries and updates to record what work has taken place
    • Ensure customers/users are updated regularly
    • Provide detailed information on a ticket before escalating
  • Communicate with School Staff and appointed Virtual Network Manager
  • Help to maintain customer IT records
    • Asset Management/Inventory (Hardware and Software)
    • Password Records
    • Stock Control
    • Change Control Records
    • Active Directory User Accounts
    • Door Entry/Signing In System User Records
    • E-mail Account provision

General

  • Manage priorities and working time effectively
  • Attend School Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Security training and adhere to procedures
  • Perform Regular Tasks as set by Virtual Network Manager/Account Manager
  • Be polite and courteous to all clients at all times and present positive image
  • Be ready to start work at your allotted time
  • Be dressed and groomed according to environment. (Specifics will be advised)
  • Adhere to all company policies including Health and Safety, Quality and Information Security
  • Adhere to all company procedures

From time to time you may be required to perform duties outside of the IT Apprentice role. You must portray a professional image and be dressed appropriately. Your line manager will provide any specific details where required or requested by you.

Desired Qualifications:

5 GCSE's A*-C including Maths and English at grade D or above. 

Future prospects:

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.

Salary: £8500-£16000- dependant on experience

Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4.30pm 37.5hrs per week

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
