We are currently looking for an Administration Apprentice to work within our Personal Injury Department in our London office.

Our administration apprenticeship programme gives you the opportunity to begin a legal career and join one of the UK’s most successful and respected law firms. During your apprenticeship you will study for the CILEx NVQ Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business Administration designed to allow you to grow into a business support role undertaking the duties listed below, and all costs will be met by the firm.

The Role

As an Administrator in one of our busy offices, you’ll ensure things run smoothly behind the scenes. By providing excellent administration, you’ll help our solicitors to really focus on our clients.

Full training will be provided and, whilst this is an entry level position, the ability to make a difference to our solicitors and clients makes this an extremely important role. The role would therefore suit someone who has a genuine interest in helping our clients receive an exceptional service at the time when they need it most.

Responsibilities and Criteria:

main duties:

  • filing, faxing, photocopying, preparation of bundles, opening and closing files on computer databases, contacting clients by telephone
  • excellent attention to detail
  • confidence in liaising with senior colleagues regarding requests
  • accuracy and efficiency
  • good standard of education including 5 GCSEs/O Level at Grade C or above (to include English and Mathematics)
  • good working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems would be an advantage.

Weekly Wage £:

£348.25 per week

Working Week (total hours plus shift pattern for an average week):

35hrs/wk, Mon-Fri 9am – 5pm, inc. 1hr unpaid lunch

Training to be provided?

  • Job-specific training through working alongside experienced staff will be provided
  • A combined competency and technical qualification to demonstrate you have the skills required to carry out the job, as well as to provide education. Competency is assessed by breaking down the contents of the jobs within your specific occupation into tasks called units of competences and will be measured through observations, assessments and witness testimony. The technical units are assessed through written assignments and online assessments.
  • Functional Skills (Literacy, Numeracy and IT) Dependent on your prior attainment you may need to be assessed in literacy, numeracy and ICT skills which are an integral part of your apprenticeship.  Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition.

  • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS)

Your academic and competency training will be through CILEx Law School. CILEx Law School provide effective and accessible training for a wide range of professional and vocational legal and business admin qualifications. Its emphasis is on quality, innovation, and flexibility in course delivery, coupled with excellence in customer service. CLS is wholly owned by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, and has been delivering legal training for 30 years.

Applicant details

Skills/Knowledge/Experience/IT Confidence:


  • Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office, internet, email etc)
  • Being able to learn new skills quickly
  • Awareness/knowledge: the importance of providing excellent customer service  


  • Any admin related experience (whether gained in employment or through  voluntary work)
  • Interest in the legal environment

Minimum Entry Qualifications:


  • 5 GCSE grades A to C or equivalent are essential, specifically Maths and English. 


  • NVQ Level 1 or equivalent in a Business or Admin related subject
