Our client, the National Union of Students (NUS), has the following vacancy for a degree apprenticeship role. The apprentice will gain valuable work experience and IT skills at NUS while studying for a BSc (Honours) Degree in Digital and Technology Solutions.

Role Purpose:
To provide first line support to users in the resolution of IT requests raised with the IT team, ensuring a timely response. Provide day-to-day user account and equipment administration to enable IT to meet its key performance measures and deliver an efficient IT Service for the group.

Key responsibilities:
To provide first line support to users in the timely resolution of IT requests into the IT servicedesk.
- To provide day-to-day user account setup and administration and equipment setup and provision for new staff and providing user training on the use of equipment, applications and IT processes, and supporting external events when necessary
- To support the deployment and implementation of new IT technologies and applications across the group.

Specific duties and activities:
Refer to the IT Department’s long term plan when planning and prioritising activities.
- Maintain and manage working relationships with suppliers and service providers to ensure the successful delivery of projects
- Follow agreed processes and procedures, discussing improvements with line manager where such changes would have an impact on other roles and implementing changes as agreed.
- Ensure that any sensitive or potentially confidential information including passwords is treated with the highest regard and the contents of such are not shared or divulged and security policies followed.
- Manage all aspects of day to day end user administration and management using office365 toolset and Active Directory/Exchange and group policy and PowerShell.
- Maintain records of all work completed and change management and provide regular progress updates to the IT Manager.
- In collaboration with department colleagues, ensure the IT service desk KPIs and deadlines are achieved and IT Servicedesk calls are logged following agreed procedures.
- Assist in all technical aspects of new IT projects and initiatives including; deployment, installation, training and support and communication of changes to end users.
- Ensure that any expenditure incurred in carrying out the responsibilities of this role is approved following all finance procedures relating to invoice and expense payments.
- Undertake all necessary duties and activities to deliver the role’s responsibilities, alerting the IT Manager to any barriers encountered and contribute to the successful resolution of any issues.

Summary of terms (n.b. full terms will be as per the written contract of employment):
This is a full time Apprenticeship role – 28 hours per week + 7 hours per week paid study
- Living Wage at £8.45 per hour or £15,379 per annum
-  Normal place of work: Macclesfield Office
- Working pattern: 35 hours per week (including study time), Monday-Friday across 9.00-6.00pm with out of hours working up to once per month
- Travel requirements beyond the working day: occasional (up to 6 x p.a.) but no overnight OR very occasional including up to 4 overnights p.a.
- On-call requirements: on-call and available for work beyond the working day up to once per month.
